At Acceptance Recovery Center (ARC), we have the pleasure of meeting many warm smiles. In December 2016, we met one of the warmest and kindest smiles of all.

Stanley arrived at ARC after coming off a 10-month jail sentence resulting from drug charges. He started using illegal substances during his troubled adolescent years. From there his casual use turned into an addiction, which lasted well into his adult life. The addiction led to a jail sentence that then brought him to ARC.

The moment Stanley entered ARC’s doors he was determined to turn his life around not only for himself, but also for his five children and family.

He excelled in the ARC program, completing all his groups and classes, and accomplishing personal goals.  After graduating from the program in February 2018, Stanley now continues to be a valuable mentor for current residents, while also working full-time and being a father! He has given so much back to the ARC community.

Stanley’s smile is warm and kind. Unfortunately, due to the effects of drug use and neglect, Stanley’s smile is in need of extensive dental work. Without the financial resources to pay for the work that needs to be done to make his smile healthy, every happy moment and glance in the mirror will also be a reminder of something that has limited his self esteem and getting ahead in life.

It is not uncommon for individuals in recovery to need dental services ranging from basic cleanings to extractions and implants, like Stanley. Without health insurance or the financial means to afford these services, many ARC clients will suffer from poor dental health for years after they’ve started their recovery journey.
