August Presentation
NARR Code of Ethics
Today’s presentation will cover the highlights and key concepts of the first 5 elements of the NARR Code of Ethics.
Operators and staff of residences certified as meeting NARR standards shall value and respect each resident and put each individual’s recovery strengths and needs at the forefront of all decision-making. To meet this obligation, we adhere to the following principles:
- Assess each potential resident’s strengths and needs, and determine whether the level of support available within the residence is appropriate. Provide assistance to the residents with appropriate referrals.
- Value diversity and non-discrimination.
- Provide a safe, homelike environment that meets NARR Standards
- Maintain an alcohol- and illicit-drug-free environment.
- Honor individuals’ rights to choose their recovery paths within the parameters defined by the residence organization.
Special guest Laarni Mccarver
Laarni McCarver is the Alumni Coordinator of Acceptance Recovery Center. She is often the residents’ preferred point of contact, as she invites connection in a profound and impactful way. As the Alumni Coordinator, Laarni walks next to our residents as they begin transitioning back into the community.
Laarni previously served as the President on the board of the Georgia Association of Recovery Residences (GARR). She was also chosen to participate in the Georgia Recovers Campaign to help bring awareness to recovery and end the stigma surrounding addiction. She also recently earned her Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC-I) credential in May 2023.
Laarni served as a medic in the US Army and has prior certifications as a paramedic and a phlebotomist. She loves to help others and is always willing to assist wherever she is needed.
Laarni battled a 17-year addiction and has been in recovery from active addiction since March 25, 2011.
