Every Sunday the men of Acceptance Recovery Center come together to share a meal after our mandatory house meeting. One man prepares dinner and the others assist in the cleaning of the kitchen after dinner. Every person takes on a piece of the responsibility. To witness the teamwork, fellowship, and camaraderie that transpires is nothing less than a beautiful miracle in itself. In the simple act of cooking and cleaning, the power of recovery becomes apparent. The coordination of the Sunday dinner preparation allows the residents to use communication tools and life skills that they are learning through ARC’s many treatment modalities. One of the most unique programs available at ARC is our monthly meal prepping class taught by Priya. Priya graciously comes to ARC on the second Saturday of every month to teach our residents about nutrition and healthful recipes. During class time, everyone gets the interactive experience of preparing a nutritious dish. I am grateful to be a part of the revolution in recovery happening at ARC and to taste the wonderful creations coming from the community kitchen every Sunday.
