Jeremy is an Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia School of Social Worker. Prior to pursing research and teaching, Jeremy worked as a clinical social worker in Baltimore, MD. His clinical work focused on crisis stabilization for individuals in mental health crisis and those experiencing substance use issues. His current research focuses on the relationship between psychosocial stressors, mental health and substance use for sexual minority (e.g., gay, lesbian, bisexual) young adults. Using innovative, technology-driven methods such as spatial analysis, geosocial networking and probability sampling, he explores the factors that contribute to health disparities for the purpose of intervention development. His research has been funded by National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). Jeremy and his husband, Leandro, reside in Athens.
