Service Spotlight – August 2017

Jonathan completed CARES training with the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse last month and is now a
Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist (CARES).
He also passed the certification exam as a Certified Peer Specialist in Addictive Diseases.
ARC encourages and supports our staff in all their educational pursuits. The more we learn, the more diverse we become in the treatment options we offer.
Anonymous Superstar
Our anonymous superstar for August is a gentleman who came to ARC nearly a year ago after truly losing everything to his alcoholism. For many years he was what most would consider a “functional alcoholic” because he had the same job for 32 years. A few years ago, as he entered the latter stages of alcoholism, he ended up semi-comatose in the hospital, and he lost that job of 32 years. He was homeless for a year before entering inpatient treatment and then coming to ARC. He now has over a year sober and a steady job where he’s received a promotion. He’s actively working the 12 steps and is a leader and looked up to by the other residents. He’s also a talented musician and has shared his gift with all of us here at ARC. We are so proud of all his accomplishments and can’t wait to see what the next leg of his journey holds for him!

Help ARC Sweeten Our Indigent Fund!
Temperatures are soaring into the 90s in August! Don’t forget cool off by visiting Di’Lishi Frozen Yogurt Bar – Athens this month.
Every yogurt spoon placed in the ARC box is a direct donation to our drug and alcohol program. Once a box is filled with spoons, ARC will receive a $500 donation. The box can be filled multiple times.
ARC is excited to collaborate with Di’Lishi. This is a sweet and generous example of ARC being a program for change as well as a recovery movement.
Di’Lishi is located off of the Oconee Connector.
