This month as Acceptance Recovery Center celebrates community fellowship and recovery. Our community is very special to us and we would not be able to meet our mission without the support of donors and partnering organizations.

The path to recovery is filled with mistakes, hard work, and celebratory moments for all accomplishments. As we move forward into a month of celebration, we are thankful for all of the many men and women who support ARC and our men every day. Without your continued love and support, we would not be able to set these motivated men on a successful path to recovery.

ARC’s First Commencement Ceremony A Beautiful Success

The night of May 2, 2017 presented good fortune, heartfelt gratitude, and a long journey to success for two residents. Dale McKee and Herman Ollis celebrated graduating from ARC’s long-term intensive residential program. What is especially unique about this commencement is that both men are the first celebrants to complete the program and will historically be known as recovery pioneers of Acceptance Recovery Center.

ARC’s Board of Director’s graciously donated the funds to secure the Seney-Stovall Chapel for the ceremony. At the beginning of the event, Brandy Witte Anderson, Executive Director, welcomed attendees and introduced the keynote speaker, Maryanne Economos. Maryanne is a case manager at ARC and through her personal testimony of recovery and redemption, she shared with everyone the gifts of long term recovery. After Maryanne’s touching story, all ARC staff, in attendance, gathered on the stage as a preface to Dale and Herman receiving their completion certificates.

Brandy presented the back story to each graduate’s journey including their initial arrivals and benchmark moments of the last year. Staff, friends, family, and fellow residents were then given the opportunity to speak. The night was filled with a multitude of beautiful moments, but many of these moments were expressed through the genuine gratitude and pride of Dale and Herman’s friends who witnessed their journeys throughout the last year.

After the graduation ceremony, ARC hosted a bonfire with desserts and live music at the residential campus. It was a sweet and savory end to a hallmark in ARC’s history: The first round of graduates from the year-long intensive therapeutic treatment program. Service Spotlight – June 2017

Kristina McFadden, LMSW, is our service spotlight for June 2017; she can also be found dancing in the opening scene of an episode of “The Originals.” As the Administrative/Intake Coordinator, Kristina is responsible for all accounting duties, managing intake assessments, and handling any issues that arise within the office. Although Kristina works long hours, to make sure that ARC runs smoothly, she is always volunteering her time to lend a listening ear and answering the office phone and emails. From a young age, she knew that helping people was the field for her. Even though she is not in recovery, she has witnessed several friends and their families fall prey to the disease. Kristina says she “that ARC is exactly where she needs to be.”

Kristina hopes to pass on that each and everyone of our residents matter, and that no matter what happened in their past, they have the choice to move forward and create a better future for themselves. ARC loves Kristina and we are thankful for all that she does!!

    Anonymous Superstar

Our Anonymous Superstar this month is a man who has struggled with addiction since the early age of 8. His addiction grew stronger when he realized the ease of access to his drug of choice. It wasn’t until after he was arrested, lost his job and all of his relationships, this he noticed it was time to seek treatment for the addiction that had been running his life for years. At ARC, he has been able to find motivation to better himself along with becoming the funny, caring man he was long before addiction struck.

His main goals are to remain on the path to recovery, find a place to create roots and begin working towards a positive family structure, and be content and find happiness. We are so blessed that he chose to #accept2Bfree at Acceptance Recovery Center.
