A Letter of Gratitude from a COVID 19 Emergency Relief Fund Recipient

This courageous woman entered our program on January 15, 2020 from Northeast Georgia. She has previously attempted other recovery programs and was never able to find what worked for her. She entered ARC unsure of what journey was ahead of her. She wanted to be a mother to her daughter and be a daughter to her mother but had no idea how to connect everything. She has remained vigilant and has persevered through many adversities. During the first few months at ARC, finding a job that worked for her needs was very difficult causing her to struggle with her financial obligations. Financial worry began to sink in and it brought up many negative emotions for her.

When COVID-19 hit our community, this resident stepped up and maintained employment at two different places just trying to make ends meet. She met with her phase counselor and continued to set goals for herself despite feeling like the world was on her shoulders. And she met EVERY SINGLE goal she set out for herself.

When she was approached about applying for indigent funds from our COVID 19 Emergency Relief Fund, she was unsure that anything would come from it but pushed through her turmoil and applied anyway. The results were miraculous. She stated, “I managed to work two jobs consistently, never calling out or leaving early but I still wasn’t able to make ends meet. Over the course of 5 months, it became too much for me to handle. Not earning enough money forced me into a very dark and unhealthy headspace and put my recovery in jeopardy. The indigent funds request was a last hope for me.”

Our team met to discuss her application and were able to share how much work she has put into her recovery and how she continues to conquer all of her goals. When we awarded her with indigent funds she stated, “I was so close to ruining everything I had been working for, all over money. Honestly, the night before I was granted the funds, I was broken. I lost it. I cried out to God to please just take me from all of this because I couldn’t handle much more. I was at the edge. It seems silly but this one request saved my recovery and my life.”

This is a miracle in action, one of many. Thank you to all that has supported us so that we can support others. This is PROOF that #WeDoRecover!
